In this book of short poems in Spanish and English, a young boy and girl describe their world and their day-to-day experiences -- the boy's street is like the trunk of an almond tree and the newborn chicks are like tiny walking suns. The girl loves her dog Oliver, the wind hitting her in the face and laughter "that explodes for no reason." But the children also ponder mysteries, such as the loud silence the boy hears inside himself when he goes for a walk alone and the vast beauty of the sky, with its clouds and constellations.

Once again Jorge Luján brings young readers a lyrical and joyful collection of poems. Morteza Zahedi's powerful illustrations in densely saturated colors perfectly complement the poems' subtle explorations.

Jorge Luján is an author, poet and musician who has published forty-four books and recorded eight CDs. With many of the world’s greatest illustrators, he has created an outstanding body of work — translated into 15 languages — including Stephen and the Beetle, illustrated by Chiara Carrer; Doggy Slippers and Numeralia, illustrated by Isol; Colors! ¡Colores!, illustrated by Piet Grobler; Moví la mano / I Moved My Hand, illustrated by Mandana Sadat; and Brunhilda and the Ring, illustrated by Linda Wolfsgruber. Jorge has just published his first novel, Salando el río con una cucharita (Salting the River with a Teaspoon). Morteza Zahedi has illustrated more than twenty books and has won many awards, including the Noma Concours Encouragement Prize in 2006 and the Honor Diploma award at the Bologna Book Fair. He lives in Tehran, Iran.
